what is Eikon?

EIKON (eye-kon) is the Greek word for “image.” in the Scriptures, human beings are said to be made in the eikon (image) of God. it’s not hard to see that humanity has not lived up to this image, and has made very serious mistakes. the Scriptures also tell us how Jesus Christ was the perfect eikon of God. we have taken the name Eikon to reflect who God made us to be and who Jesus taught us to be. the world is beautiful but ill. we, as Eikon, desire to become part of creation’s redemption by loving God in the way of Jesus, serving Creation, and radically loving others.

Eikon is a church of Fort Worth, and while we meet on sundays for worship, that is not what we call church. even as our church meets to worship together as a community on Sundays, the church lives 24/7… in mission groups, where we secretly plot for the good of Fort Worth and beyond, the church is present… in our families, where love is modeled… where mistakes are made in safe places, where authenticity is valued more than the facades that hide identity and insecurity, the church is there… in coffeehouse conversations and as parents chat during their children’s soccer game, you will find the church.

world, meet Eikon. Eikon, welcome to the world.

Hi. We tried to visit your group tonight (June 7). We went to the chapel at Ridglea Presbyterian at 5:00, as directed by your web site, and no one was there. Have you moved to a different location?

    Thanks.
